State of the NASCAR nation, as seen by a Poet
So I have been pretty quiet this season, Not a lot of blogging. And that should have been ya’lls first clu..e.hehehehe.. Not much in this season has inspired me or made me really angry, and that is a first. So what does that say?
Well I am pretty pleased over the double file re-starts and wonder what took so long, should have happened when the Lucky dog and no racing rule came into fact.
This season has been wrapped around drug testing, and failing said tests, and that doesn’t really anger me as much as the time wasted by some of the Main stream media, shoving it down our throats.
We lost one of my greatest mentors, David Poole, this year, and that brought me to my knees. He had so much influence on me and my writing, losing him, was like losing a part of myself.
Last season I brought up the dominance factor over in NASCAR, and as much as I am a Huge JJ fan, I still wonder if that much dominance is good for the sport as a whole, as ratings drop. But what is NASCAR to do? Tell Hendrick to stop producing Championship teams? So All I can say is the other teams better hit the books, tracks, and wind tunnels and find some power and the passion to win again!
The one thing that has angered me lately is, The influx of Open wheel drivers into my sport. Now why would you leave the Bubbly and Caviar for Beer and Pork Rinds? The answer is clear, MONEY! As they care nothing about this sport, or It’s fanbase! All I can say is Anyone who wants to race in our sport, better learn to pucker up, because WE, the fans are the real bosses, and we take NO Ship High In Transit, over here..lol….. Figure that out on your own!
So a female is headed our way, and we have been forewarned! PMS is coming to NASCAR, I hope they make Midol for that,lol..And I pray I will long and dead when a Tampax appears on a Stock car, roflmbo… Scary thought huh?????
Now I hope Danica is successful, but I am not willing to watch the Pit Stops perils of her drama either. There is a HUGE difference between running a 1800 pound car for 18 races a year, and running a 3400 pound Stock car for 36 venues! I hope Junior keeps her over in ARCA and The CWTS for at least two years, as I think EVERY driver should do a minimum of two years in a lower series before Cup!
I still do not really like Juan Pablo either, for the reason, read above, no respect for the sport, competitors or FANS! Although It is getting easier to understand him,lol..
I have almost finished my third book, with the lapse of a exciting season. But again find myself on my own to get things done. I still have to send the picture I took at Bristol, and try to get Jack Roush’s permission to use it as my book cover. Still trying to get some of the pictures from that race too,lol.. At least someone was busy this season, if not me..
And I still believe a road course, Infineon to be exact, should be in the Chase venue. If we want a REAL champion, shouldn’t they race every configuration of track? And since Infineon would have to change it’s date, NASCAR can build a new road course in the triangle of Houston, San Antonio, and Austin, Texas, to replace the Infineon date, in the season. hehehehe..
So as to the state of the NASCAR Nation? I would have to say, although a tough economic season, The boys did well, the sport is moving in the correct direction, and I think that the 2010 Season is gonna be a real bang! So we will surivie, and here’s to 2010 meaning Me getting back to the track, as I am having fume withdrawls, I need the octane and smell of burning rubber in my nostril again!
So pull those belts tight!
The greens gonna fly,
And this ain’t no ordinary ride.
This is NASCAR!
Here’s to a great off season, and Happy Holidays!
